Perhaps you were falling asleep Jirnsum xdsmiley2dl6[1].gif

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm glad to hear that the continuous drivel was appreciated icon_razz.gif

I've reformatted the first post in order to enable easier access to all episodes. Basically, I've archived the entire show for future generations to enjoy xdsmiley2dl6[1].gif

It pretty much is the end of the podcast, but never say never. Maybe one day a game developer will announce a city simulation game that will totally blow our socks off. Maybe...

I really hope you guys consider doing the podcast again. I mean there is so much to talk about now, Monte Cristo does not exists any more, Civilization 5 has been announced, Rexer can talk about his new book and how it feels to be a renowned author, forum happenings etc. So I hope you consider my suggestion. icon_smile.gif

I agree, Usman, but the podcast to a large degree was a training ground for Trixin's interest in the broadcasting field. Now he is pursuing that interest in other, more professional ways, as a university student in communications. Indeed, he has his own weekly program on an actual radio station. So I think he has little time or need to resume the podcast. I am very impressed with the manner in which he took the initiative to channel his creative ambitions into Simphoni in a way that led to a career.

The thought had occurred to me, but then again, I think that we would only have enough content for one or two shows. It would require a significant event i.e. Maxis announcing SimCity 5 or something along those lines. Monte Cristo going out of business is certainly significant, but then again, it wasn't unexpected. Additionally, when Rex and I used to record the podcast, which was Sundays at 2:00 P.M., that time slot is now taken up by show prep for my own radio show that airs every Monday.

Oddly, I have just applied for a job at a radio station here. Actually, it's two stations in the same studio. One is a FM pop music station and the other is a conservative AM talk radio station. It's not an on-air job, though. It's an office job, reception, clerical, and sales. I hope I get it because i would love to love the radio business and work on pursuing that line of work. I'm certain that I could easily learn to run the board. Plus, people tell me all the time that I have a good face for the radio.

Five years ago today, I announced the beginning of The SIMphoni Podcast. At that time, I was still in high school. I had a hunch I would end up in radio, but I wasn't quite sure. Because of my experience hosting and producing the podcast, I did eventually pursue my interests and I decided to volunteer for community radio. A year later, when I entered college, I became very involved with the college radio station, broadcasting a few times per week. Now, five years later, I'm working at the largest radio station in town and it's definitely in part thanks to the podcast. I want to say a huge thank you to Rex for being my co-host and putting up with me for so many hours. I also want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who listened to the podcast, posted comments and joined in on the fun as guests on the show. My radio career had its very beginnings at SIMphoni and without the support of Rex or any of you guys, my life may have turned out very differently. I've only just started and already, big things are happening. Once again, thank you so much for making the podcast a success and for helping me start my career in radio! icon_smile.gif

That is wonderful to hear! I spent almost a year in the radio business myself while I was between jobs, and enjoyed it immensely. The Simphoni Podcast was one of the most fun things I have been accociated with.
