During the final wait for Spore, we’re re-releasing a Sporelings comic each Tuesday and Friday. When the Sporelings comic first debuted in 2006, there were only 5 strips before the series ended due to unfortunate circumstances. Since the release of Spore is still more than a week away, the next three strips will be all-new and have never been seen before by anyone.

Eligibility. This Sweepstakes is only open to residents of the 50 United States (excluding Rhode Island), the District of Columbia, and Canada (except residents of Quebec) who are 13 years of age or older at time Sweepstakes begins and who had Internet access as of August 1st 2008.
Sigh: EA, what was the biggest gaming market again where most money’s being made?
UPDATE: Editor in Chief Gil made a very astute observation. According to the rules, Spore itself cannot be used to enter creatures into the contest:
To create and share creatures in the Spore Milestone Creature promotion (the “Sweepstakes”), you will need Spore™ Creature Creator or the Spore™ Creature Creator Trial Edition free demo (hereinafter, “Software”).
Notice that Spore itself isn’t in there, even though the contest runs:
between 12:01 am (PT) August 14, 2008 and 11:59 pm (PT) November 30, 2008 or until four (4) million creatures have been Shared, whichever comes first
In addition to a Spore Galactic Edition trailer, a Spore Creatures NDS trailer has been released. Check them out!

During the final wait for Spore, we’re re-releasing one of the old Sporelings comics that debuted in 2006 each Tuesday and Friday. Today’s instalment is all about the Cell phase and the problems your minuscule organisms might encounter.
Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and its subsidiary Maxis Studios have announced on Thursday that their upcoming game Spore has gone gold. Maxis is the creator of some of the most popular titles in computer gaming’s history, including the SimCity and The Sims franchises. Spore is scheduled to be released the first weekend of September just three weeks from now, beginning with a Friday, September 5th release in Europe, and following up with a release in North America on Sunday the 7th. It is the most anticipated new game release of 2008 by most accounts.
We at SIMphoni are excited about the Spore and hope it meets our high expectations. We will be participating in the Spore Community day on Friday, August 22nd along with other fine Spore-related sites. There we will have the privilege to preview Spore and bring back our impressions and images. Also, we will be offering links for those wishing to pre-order Spore and the Prima Strategy Guide, while also supporting SIMphoni at the same time.
For the complete press release from EA and Maxis, see the official web site. Copies of the release can also be found at all of the standard business and investing news sites, including Yahoo! News and The Wall Street Journal (Subscription required). Further discussion can also be found in the SIMmphoni Forums at the link immediately below this article.

Sporelings
After such a long development time, it’s almost unbelievable that the release of Spore is only three weeks away. However, doesn’t it seem as if the days and the weeks get longer as the release date draws closer?
To make the wait just a little easier, from now until the European release of Spore, each Tuesday and Friday there will be an installment of Sporelings; the Spore comic that first debuted in 2006. For the final wait, we’re re-releasing the old comics but with proper colouring and shading!
Without further ado, the first installment of Sporelings:
