Will Wright’s presentation at the New Yorker conference seems to have been lost in the furor over Spore’s delay a week ago! The speech he gave there might sound familiar, with the typical “user created content” and “I went to a Montessori school” lines.
Hopes of Spore being released sometime in late 2007 or even early 2008 were dashed yesterday as news that the game has been pushed back more than half a year, after the end of this fiscal year (which ends in March). That means it will likely come out in the spring, or even summer, of 2008.

Gamespot has uploaded dozens of new Spore screenshots! Well, they’re not all new, but they still look sweet, and that’s all we’re interested in. They appear to be from around the time of the South by Southwest conference and various other sources. In any case, check them out!
As you can see, there has been a huge amount of hype about Spore by EA and the gaming community in general. However, there’s still months to go before it’s released (possibly this fall), and some people are wondering whether all this hype (and all this waiting) will add up.
Many of us on the forums have been interested in the game Civilization IV, which was developed by Soren Johnson at Firaxis.
