MaxisCactus made Friday the 13th a very very nice day indeed for Spore fansites with the following message:
We know you’re very excited to see all the new creations that are popping up on Spore.com and we want to give the fansites a chance to make some, too. We’ve been working to get you an early copy, and we can’t wait to see what you make!
I can tell you: my heart skipped a beat 
The game was provided through EA’s own Download Manager, and even came with a manual. Based on earlier reports I wasn’t too worried it was 1kb in size and only contained the sentence:

The game file itself weighed in at 125MB packed, and 286MB extracted. Install screenies:
Something somehow went wrong during the installation which prevented the Spore Creature Creator icon from appearing on my desktop afterward. This was of course easily remedied. The game was registered online, and then:
The icon to the left is for loading a creature, the one to the right for creating a creature. As I had just installed the game, guess what I chose The screen with the blue wobbly clay starter thingy you’ve all seen before:
The icons in the upper right are:
- the complexi meter (top green)
- the abilities indicator (blue)
- attack indicator
- socialise indicator
- speed indicator
- health indicator
- diet indicator
As said by others before: using the editor is extremely straightforward. Switching between the editor and testdrive mode is extremely smooth, and allows you to immediately view the effects of any and all edits that you make.
Painting went very easily as well, and as the Dutch national soccer team beat the French 4-1 while I was preparing this for you all, what other colour could I give Simphy than orange: our national colour.
Uploading Simphy to the Sporepedia went very easily, and it’s there that (s)he can now be downloaded.
Final act was to test the animated icon creator:
Conclusion is that the Creature Creator is indeed as intuitive as we’ve heard over and over again. Feel free to ask me any question on the Creature Creator in the forums, and I will try to answer it. If you have any wishes Creature-wise, let me know, and we’ll see whether we can make it work! I am sure to test-drive this thing a lot more, so keep an eye on the forums!
