Update: EA has released a clarification on the delay.

Game Informer reports that the release of Spore has slipped yet again. Where Game Informer says the game has been “delayed indefinitely”, Electronic Arts released a statement saying “Spore has slipped out of fiscal 08 and into fiscal 09″ (i.e. beyond March 08). It looks like we won’t be seeing this game on our screens for some time to come. With the game being demoed again and again, it’s kind of hard to understand just why it has been delayed again. Some people speculate EA is porting the game to a console, and aims for a dual launch. Others say Will Wright just enjoys torturing the masses.
